What days and hours are the Beaver Creek kayak tours available? Three of us from Salem are interested in the tour, preferably on either Aug. 14 or 15. What time would we need to arrive there?

After all the hot weather, a kayak tour on the coast seems like an excellent way to cool off. The Hospitality Center at South Beach State Park handles all the tour details and reservations. Because tour dates and time vary, staff at the center are best able to answer your questions and book your spots. Give them a call at 541-867-6590.

Very glad to see another opportunity to paddle around and see more of nature. I am so glad I live in Oregon where opportunities abound.

This park looks wonderful! I would love to paddle the waterways with a chance to see wildlife! Can I bring my own kayak? I love mine. Thanks!

If you win the contest, you can check with the park ranger about bringing your own kayak. You can also paddle Beaver Creek in your kayak if you don’t win. Launch at the Ona Beach day-use area on the east side of U.S. 101 and take off.

The park looks very nice. Does the $15 include the park entrance fee? Also, I may be interested in bringing a cub-scout group to the site. Are there group discounts available?

    Thanks!!

    • September 16, 2010 7:27 am

Beaver Creek is a FREE day-use park. The South Beach State Park Hospitality Center staff can best answer questions about group tours and help you arrange the trip. The telephone number is 541-867-6590. We’re also forwarding your question to the park ranger that guides the tours.

Love Oregon waterways. Does anyone know what kind of kayak is pictured on this previous page http://oregonstateparks.wordpress.com/2010/09/15/win-a-beaver-creek-guided-kayak-tour/ ? It’s red and carries 2 people. I’m looking for a tandem slow-water kayak. Thanks for a great website.

Another recreational resource that offers natural surroundings as a “classroom” for understanding ourselves in the world. How very Oregon, and congratulations to all those who helped make this happen!

And a suggestion from a relatively new subscriber of the Your Parks “Go Guide:” as parts of the system are featured in the digests (whether about new or old parks or resources), a small map of the locale would be helpful on the opening page, so folks who might not have heard of that site could get a basic orientation.

Been trying to find the new Paddle beaver creek app. Searched iTunes, but got nothing. I just read about the app this morning.

To Sandy, from last September, yes, dogs are allowed in the park. Many people take them in their boats, but we leave ours at home because she would disturb the peace!

This is not a new paddling area; we have been on this creek for 15 years. I hope that people will use the opportunity responsibly and have a wonderful time. It can be paddled year-round. There is somewhat more current in late winter and early spring, and summer afternoon winds can be strong, but it is generally an easy paddle.
