No camping experience? No problem! (2010)
Let’s Go Camping is back
A program for brand-new campers offers a fun-filled, overnight camping experience for beginners of all ages.
Fourteen Let’s Go Camping (LGC) events are scheduled at 12 parks this summer. With extra gear, hands-on lessons, nature hikes and plenty of s’mores, the LGC program makes camping easy, inviting and fun for the entire family.
LGC campers can expect a range of outdoor activities, including:
- Nature hikes and wildlife viewing.
- Clamming and beach safety workshops.
- Ranger-led camping basics.
- Owl prowls and bat chats.
- Dutch oven cooking and fire safety.
Silver Falls State Park and Stub Stewart State Park will both offer a Let’s Go Backpacking event in September. Returning campers will test their backcountry skills while exploring the parks’ extensive hiking trails.
