Summer of fun at the Oregon Exposition Center (2010)
A science fair in one building, a benefit dance in another and mayhem in the pavilion
This weekend’s events at the Oregon Exposition Center in Salem are a sampling of a busy schedule leading up to the 2010 Oregon State Fair in late August. The mayhem part on Saturday, May 15, is an evening cage fight capping a day full of activities that include a car and motorcycle show. The cage fighting begins at 6:30 p.m. The car and motorcycle exhibits open to the public at 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, a 2010 Oregon State Fair Science Competition will be under way from 9 a.m.-noon in Cascade Hall. The competition is for middle and elementary school students with cash prizes available for first, second and third place finishers. All contestants will leave as winners, though, since everyone is eligible for two, free 2010 Oregon State Fair admission passes.
The Frida Salinas Benefit Dance will take place later in Columbia Hall.
