A few reservable campsites open for Memorial Day weekend (2011)
Almost all state park campgrounds are open for the Memorial Day weekend, but most reservable sites are full. A little over one-third of Humbug Mountain State Park campsites are still reservable for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Parks most likely to have a few vacancies are Wallowa Lake, Bullards Beach and Sunset Bay. Call 1-800-452-5687 for last-minute reservations.
If you don’t have a site reserved, you might find a spot in first-come, first served campgrounds.
Cascara campground at Fall Creek State Recreation Area remains closed because of downed trees after an early spring windstorm. The LaPine State Park campground is open, except for the north loop. The loop will open July 15 with a brand new restroom. Visit the Oregon State Parks advisory page for the most current park and campground information.
Holiday campers will see big improvements at Humbug Mountain. Closed for almost nine months, the park’s 91-site campground reopened mid-May. Its 35 electrical hookup sites now have 50 amp power. The A loop has a new ADA shower-restroom building.
Perhaps most welcome to Humbug Mountain’s RV campers is the new waste dump station. The Devil’s Lake campground at Lincoln City, also closed through the winter, is reopened with a new ADA restroom-shower building.
