Cascara campground at Fall Creek reopens Aug. 12 (2011)

Fall Creek Reservoir

Fall Creek Reservoir is popular for swimming, fishing and boating.

Most of the campsites in Cascara campground at Fall Creek State Recreation Site, 27 miles southeast of Eugene-Springfield, will open Friday.  A severe spring storm brought down 1,500 trees and forced the campground to close. Crews have repaired much of the damage to the east loop, smoothed the roadways and campsites and removed hazardous trees.

Of the 47 primitive campsites in the park, 12 tent sites and all six walk-in sites were severely damaged and remain closed for 2011. The remaining sites are open through Sept 30, and are always first-come, first-served.

Some areas remain closed to public access, but recovery work may continue while the weather remains dry. This winter and next spring crews will replant native vegetation and repair the extensive damage to the walk-in sites.

  1. So excited, I love this place and can’t wait till labor day weekend to go camping there. Thanks for the hard work to get it up and running before summer is over!

  2. $19/night for a tent site? Wow that seems pricey.
