Shore Acres Holiday Lights
now thru Dec. 31, 4-9 p.m.

Shore Acres Holiday LightsThe Shore Acres garden is open each evening festooned with 300,000 lights arranged on dozens of sculptures, including a life-size orca and gray whale, as well as 26 large holiday trees. Visit the decorated Garden House for refreshments and stop by the Performance Pavilion for holiday entertainment. Last year, more than 47,000 visitors saw the light display. Champoeg Holiday Gathering
Dec. 7-8 , 1-4 p.m.

All ages are invited to share in the simple joys of an old-fashioned holiday celebration. Volunteers in period clothing will help children and their families make sugar plums, decorate gingerbread, play 19th-century games and create holiday decorations. Tryon Creek Holiday Forest Market
Dec. 7-8, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

From wonderful hand-woven basketry to tasty, local honey to decorative hand-thrown pottery and beautiful wood cutting boards, there is something for everyone on your list at the Holiday Market. All proceeds from this event benefits the Friends of Tryon Creek’s education and restoration programs. Event is free! Tryon Creek State Natural Area and Friends of Tryon Creek

Silver Falls 36th Annual Christmas Festival
Dec. 14-15, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

The South Falls Historic District is transformed into a Christmas wonderland featuring decorated trees and thousands of lights. Enjoy the sound of the holidays with music provided by local musicians and choral groups. Families can grab a cookie, a warm drink, and gather around the fireplace in the South Falls Lodge to hear seasonal stories each afternoon. Be sure to join in the make-and-take projects such as holiday cards, gingerbread houses, festive ornaments, wreaths, nature crafts and more.  Visitors can also help make the holidays better for local families by bringing a canned food donation benefiting local food banks. A Night of Christmas at Collier
Dec. 14, 6-8:30 p.m.

Join us for family fun in the cookhouse where you can make craft ornaments and cards and listen to live Christmas music featuring Wampus Cat. Meet J.R. Beaver and write a letter to Santa! Event is free. Collier Memorial State Park

Alsea Bay Historic Interpretive Center – Christmas in Waldport
Dec. 14, 5-7 p.m.

Bring the entire family along (dogs too!) for this free event, which includes face painting, photos with Santa, live holiday music, decorated dog contest, and much more! Beach bonfire at sunset, weather permitting. From 7-8 p.m., walk over the historic Alsea Bay Bridge with a complimentary glow stick as a park naturalist gives a guided tour on the history of the bridge and the Waldport area. Be sure to bundle up for the weather! Glow sticks available first come. Meet at the Interpretive Center on the south end of the bridge. For more information on both events, call (541) 563-2133.
