Cold doesn’t ice 2015 First Day Hikes (2015)


Our January 1 weather was cold, but it didn’t stop 954 hikers from joining First Day Hikes at 29 Oregon State Parks.

Emigrant Springs hikers snowshoed along the old Oregon Trail. The snow was 3-4 feet deep.

70 hikers made the 2-mile trek on the OC and E Woods Line State Trail.

 

Cape-Lookout-First-Day-Hike - Copy

High water at the north trailhead didn’t stymie the hike at Luckiamute Landing. More than 40 hikers trekked from the south trailhead.

First Day hikers at L.L. Stub Stewart made the 3-mile, round-trip hike to the highest point in the park.
