Learn about whales and then help others spot them during the Whale Watch Weeks.

Become a volunteer for upcoming Whale Watch Weeks. Whale Watching Spoken Here training is set for Dec. 5 at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport. Here’s a chance to learn from Dr. Bruce Mate, renowned whale expert and director of the Oregon State University Marine Mammal Institute. After the training, you’re eligible to volunteer at the Winter and Spring Whale Watch Weeks, Dec. 27-31 and March 19-26, 2016. Volunteer for Christmas in the Cookhouse at Collier Memorial State Park

Volunteers are needed to help put on Collier Memorial State Park’s 3rd Annual Christmas in the Cookhouse event on Dec. 12. Volunteers will help spread holiday cheer by assisting with crafts, storytelling, caroling, snacks and more. The event runs 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Collier Memorial Logging Museum. Volunteer shifts run anywhere from an hour to all day. Collier Memorial State Park is near Chiloquin, Ore.
